Our worship revolves around the church year and the Revised Common Lectionary. These worship rhythms and patterns allow us to engage the story of Christ more deeply. Every Sunday morning, we gather to re-tell the story and listen to what God is saying to us. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper during our morning service. We also observe holy days such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Pentecost, All Saints' Day, and Christmas Eve. Twice a year, we have a combined service with the Episcopal Church of the Ascension and Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church. In addition, every May, we celebrate our church anniversary with a special worship service.
We like to describe our worship style at Talbot Park as traditional but not formal. We have a choir. We sing both hymns and praise songs. From week to week, bells, organ, harp, flute, guitar, violin, or piano might be part of the service. There are times of prayer and Scripture reading. There is also a sermon every Sunday that is grounded in Scripture and connected to our everyday lives. At Talbot Park, we believe that worship is more than entertainment; therefore, we work hard to create an atmosphere where true contemplation and praise are possible. Good worship engages our hearts, our heads, and our hands as we encounter the living presence of God.
